At SAF, we believe in the power of sport, education, and mentorship to transform lives.
We work with young people aged 4–25, including those with SEND and from underrepresented backgrounds, helping them build confidence, wellbeing, and brighter futures.
Our work goes beyond the pitch or classroom. By supporting families and communities across West Essex and East Hertfordshire, and delivering international projects in Ghana and Kenya, we’re creating stronger, more connected environments where everyone has the chance to succeed.
To create a world where every young person, no matter their background or ability, has access to opportunities that help them move, learn, and grow, building healthier, happier, and more resilient communities.
Founded by Samir and Tim, two young ex-academy and semi-professional footballers from BAME backgrounds, Strike Academy was created to give young people in Harlow the chances they never had. Having experienced barriers in football and limited access to opportunity, they set out to help others fulfil their potential, linking aspiring players to professional clubs and positive mentors.
Seeing first-hand the wider challenges young people faced, from lack of access to structured sport to limited personal growth opportunities, the team launched SAF. Initially funded through Strike Academy, it began delivering inclusive, football-based community projects that promoted confidence, wellbeing, and belonging.
With its first major funding secured, SAF expanded its reach across Essex, delivering sport and mentoring programmes that created real impact. The funding helped shape a clear strategic vision for long-term growth and sustainability.
Building on strong foundations, SA Foundation is growing its programmes across West Essex, London and East Hertfordshire, while expanding internationally through projects in Ghana and Kenya. The mission remains the same, to empower young people through sport, education, and creativity, helping them move, learn, and thrive.
